Eye on San Francisco: Yvonne Daley reads from her new memoir, Octavia Boulevard

The Lily Pad – Inman Square, Cambridge

3 – 5 PM Sunday, Nov 6, 2011

Light refreshments and the event is free

A journalism professor for the past 13 years at San Francisco State University, Yvonne Daley divides her time between a home in Noe Valley, San Franciso, and one in Rutland, VT, where she directs the Green Mountain Writers Conference. Octavia Boulevard (Northshire Books), her third book, is the story of a street turned boulevard from 2003 – 2007 as part of an ingenious urban revitalization. But Daley’s memoir also describes the city’s failure to use its wealth and creativity to solve ingrained social problems. Daley, a reporter for many years, has a keen eye for real people in real neighborhoods and the sort of details that comprise daily live, however the individuals she gets to know define that.

Yvonne will read from her book, which will be for sale at the event.

I just met Yvonne at Bernie’s Cafe in Noe Valley. She mentioned a reading on Mother’s Day in Glen Park–where and when, please. I’d like to attend with a few friends and my wife.

    Many thanks!
